The Guardian Wildchild Feather Stone 9781936305889 Books

Sidney is tough, smart, and gifted. As a guardian she is supremely independent and strong. Sam is a man caught between a heartbreaking past and his duty to his nation as a Naval Officer. When he is ordered to put Sidney to death he becomes even more entangled in events that could change or destroy the entire world.

I liked this story, but I have to warn readers, the end is not what I expected. Not to ruin it, but I was shocked and had to read the last two chapters twice.

The Guardian Wildchild Feather Stone 9781936305889 Books Reviews

This is a very well edited and put together story. It is captivatingly written with an intriguingly unique concept. Stone has created a history of these people that gives you the necessary background information. She also covers the key events in a long period of time quickly, but without the reader feeling left behind or rushed. Stone`s brilliant descriptions painted a mural for you, allowing you to see the scenes separately and as a whole.

I was quite shocked with the vast array of character types in this novel. They were all well developed, letting you know who they really were, and meshed together into a group of people who definitely kept you on your toes. You get to know these characters so well that you feel like you`ve met them and that you`ve journeyed with them. You really feel for, and with, these wonderful people.

This story was extremely well put together with a cohesive and coherent storyline. Stone pulls together a brilliant cast with some action and a few tear jerker moments to create a wholly unique and very captivating story. My only issue with this novel was the ending. It fits with the story perfectly, but... Overall, I would definitely recommend this story to others and would pick up more work by this talented author.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my god!! No way i was expecting the book to be that good! I loved it!

The book is written mainly with two first person POVs, of Sam and Sidney. It starts with a small introduction for both the characters and the stories, by showing you some important things in their past. While i usually i'm not fan of this method, it was written nicely and it actually fitted with the rest later. Another thing, that i really liked was how good the author had understand her ideas and what she wanted to say. Even though i did not agree in general with how the Guardian's weren't doing much and i usually i should have been mad, their ideas and beliefs were so perfectly described that actually convinced me that they were doing the right thing indeed. When you see, a world so well created and an author who knows exactly what's is going on, there is no doubt you will not love the story. Plus, who says no to some action, magic and romance eh?

As for the characters, both Sam and Sidney were loveable. Maybe you couldn't see yourself in them but you could understand them and respect them. Sidney is such a strong female character. And i don't see that because she is kind of awesome with her powers, but because of how is letting herself be killed for the higher good. She is kind but not naive. And while she over react sometimes, she will say no, understand her mistakes and learn from them.
As for Sam, even though he starts as a dark character for his reasons, i liked that even then he was a man of honor and justice. I could understand why his people respected him and like him. He was also the character who grown the most as a person.

And is it bad that i like the stories, with the not perfect ending? 6-7 pages before it ended, i could see how it will finish. It made me sad, but it made sense. It only loses half star because, i just wanted to see more of Danik (Sidney's sister) who seemed like an amazing character and because it was predictable at times.

A great book, which is something adult and young adult. The only thing i want to add now is that i'm a really sad is a stand alone and that it doesn't exists at Am.co.uk(lucky Americans!) printed to buy it for my bookcase.
Will Earth Become a Lifeless Planet in the Future? The Guardian's Wildchild by Feather Stone is a robust and complex fantasy filled with humans, Guardians, Guardian Elders and Spiritual guides with bad guys and spies at every turn.

Stone’s well-written and well-researched fantasy breathes of realism. I must admit it was a lot of information in the beginning to understand how the world was set up and where exactly I was, but once I did, the story was exciting. The Guardian’s Wildchild seems to me a mix of Greek Mythology intertwined in navy realism.

The Guardian Elders are passive gods who help other Guardians and some “waking” Guardians believe in their abilities and discover the “higher good” in their lives. Some other Guardians are not shy about interfering in human lives.

Like in many dystopian worlds, someone wants to become all-powerful and take control. Madame. And as usual, she does it through manipulation and lies. And like any good story, everyone is spying on everyone else and sometimes you can’t determine who the good guy is and who you can believe. Stone keeps you guessing until the end.

The main plot opens with Sidney Davenport attempting to obtain a secret file from the Navy that contains a plan to disrupt energy sources and cause havoc on the human race. She’s caught and sentenced to death. Enter Captain Sam Waterhouse, a by-the-book Captain of the Nonnah, a cruise ship turned into an armed cargo ship.

But things aren’t always as they seem as the reader finds out again and again in this suspense story. Sidney and Sam enter into a relationship that spans the novel. Sam is a “waking Guardian” and must learn that strength and peace come from within.

I don’t like to give away what happens, but I guarantee that if you like fantasy and intrigue, you’ll enjoy The Guardian’s Wildchild by Feather Stone.
